THOMASVILLE- In a bold and inspiring step to grow local talent into future educators, Thomasville City Schools is proud to announce a new partnership with Thomas University that offers a zero-cost paraprofessional to teacher pathway for selected students.

On Thursday morning, Ni’shyah Duncan and Cristopher Hale, seniors at Thomasville High School, became the first to sign an agreement to participate in this innovative program. Through this opportunity, both students will be able to enroll at Thomas University tuition-free and take up to 15 credit hours per semester while pursuing their teaching degrees.

Upon earning their paraprofessional credentials and completing the interview process, they will be eligible to work as paraprofessionals within Thomasville City Schools—all while continuing their college coursework. Upon graduation, they will be certified teachers with at least four years of TRS (Teacher Retirement System) credit, making them ready and equipped to step directly into classrooms as full-time educators.

This program reflects Thomasville City Schools’ and Thomas University’s shared commitment to building sustainable pathways for students and strengthening the future of education in our community.

Thomasville City Schools extends its sincere thanks to Thomas University for their vision, generosity, and continued collaboration in supporting the next generation of educators.
