THOMASVILLE- Thomasville High School is proud to announce Crista Shaffer as the 2025–2026 Teacher of the Year. A dedicated educator with over 22 years of teaching experience, Shaffer brings excellence, heart, and a passion for problem-solving to every classroom she enters.

Shaffer teaches a range of math courses at THS, including Algebra: Concepts & Connections, Advanced Algebra, Honors Geometry, and Honors Advanced Algebra, to students in grades 9–12. Her enthusiasm for mathematics is contagious and rooted in her belief that “math is everywhere” and can enhance students’ real-world experiences.

“My favorite thing about teaching is the daily opportunity to help students connect their learning to scenarios that impact and enhance their real-world experience,” said Shaffer. “Those moments when students realize they can be independently successful and take ownership of their accomplishments are a joy!”

Inspired by the strong adult influences in her own life—parents, grandparents, and educators— Shaffer believes in fostering a love for lifelong learning through discovery and problem-solving. She builds relationships with students by celebrating both big and small wins and believes that connecting with families is a key part of student success.

“Most students thrive when they know they are seen, heard, and cared for,” she shared. “Connecting with families gives adults at home a chance to join in the celebration, too.”

Shaffer views her Teacher of the Year recognition not as an individual achievement, but as a testament to the collaborative spirit of the Thomasville High School community.

“Our schools operate at maximum levels of success when we are united as a single community,” she said. “This honor is a reflection of the investment of the students, teachers, and leadership teams who call Thomasville City Schools their home.”

Thomasville City Schools proudly celebrates Shaffer and her unwavering commitment to her students and the Bulldog family.
