FSU transfers to watch

Spring football is here. And so, it’s time to talk about the new faces in new places. A transfer heavy team like Florida State has plenty, but let’s look at a few of the ones to watch from the number seven ranked transfer class in the country.

With a new quarterback coming in, it’s always good to have some solid wide receivers. Unfortunately for Florida State, two of their best hit the transfer portal. Top receiver Malik Benson is heading to Oregon and promising ball catcher and return man Deuce Spann is moving to Pitt. Darion Williamson is also headed out, making his way to Maryland.

However, the Noles are bringing in a solid receiver in Squirrel White. White is coming from Tennessee where he had some productive years. Last season the four-star receiver racked up 381 yards on 34 receptions for two touchdowns for the Volunteers. 2023 was his best season in Knoxville as he had over 800 yards on 67 receptions with two touchdowns.

One name that Noles fans should be very excited to see on the roster is Micah Pettus. Pettus played right tackle for Ole Miss for several seasons and now brings and incredible amount of experience to Tallahassee with over 100 starts and bring a wealth of SEC offensive-line experience. The big man, who is listed at 6’7 and 355 lbs., is extremely active on the line in pass protection and the run game.

Last, but certainly not least, is the man who Pettus will be protecting. Tommy Castellanos is a name that most Noles fans hear in their nightmares. The former Boston College Eagle has lit up the Seminoles in the last two seasons with Boston College, but now he will man the helm for FSU. Castellanos showed out for the Eagles. He threw for 2,248 yards and 20 TDs in 2023 and, without playing a full season, threw for 1,366 and 19 TDs in 2024.

There are some loyalty questions as his time at Boston College ended on a sour note with many people saying he gave up on the program after they made a change at QB. Despite this, Castellanos should be an upgrade at QB for FSU, who has been searching for someone to replace the production of Jordan Travis since he was drafted by the Jets.
