Bulldogs bully Berrien

THOMASVILLE – The Thomasville Bulldogs scored a pair of home region victories with a doubleheader sweep against Berrien on Friday.

Thomasville’s Jay Harrison swatted a grand slam in the bottom of the fifth inning to walk off a 14-1 victory in the first game. Harrison’s homer capped a three-hit, six-RBI night. David Chastain and Jasper Davis each added two hits and two RBIs, as the Bulldogs pounded Rebels pitching for 12 hits and a season-best 14 runs.

As dominant as Harrison was at the plate, he was just as effective on the mound. He scattered five hits over eight innings, allowing one run, two walks and nine strikeouts.

Thomasville used a dominant pitching performance to cap the sweep. Ben McDougald pitched seven scoreless innings, allowing two hits with 10 strikeouts.

Chastain paced the Bulldogs with three hits and three RBIs. Davis added a hit and an RBI. Leadoff hitter Kiff Parrish scored two runs for the Bulldogs.

Thomasville will conclude the regular season this week with a three-game series with Worth County. It will host Worth County on Tuesday before playing a doubleheader at Worth on Friday. Thomasville is 8-18 and 3-10 in region.
