THOMASVILLE- As Thomasville Entertainment Foundation makes final preparations for Saturday’s free performance by the U.S. Navy Band, TEF officials are making sure the community is aware of the cancellation of the scheduled performance of “The Velveteen Rabbit.”

Originally scheduled as part of the free TEF Family Series, the children’s show had to be cancelled due to the detailed logistics and requirements for the U.S. Navy Band’s March 22 concert.

“While we are so excited to be bringing this dynamic group of active-duty sailors to our community, we were sad to have to call off the theatrical production of Margery Williams’ beloved children’s classic,” explained TEF Executive & Artistic Director Rick Ivey. “Hopefully, we can find another opportunity to host this show in the future.”

Saturday evening’s performance is set for 7 p.m. in the Thomasville High School gymnasium, located at 315 S. Hansell Street, and doors will open at 6:15 p.m. TEF plans to have some chair seating on the gym floor for elderly and mobility compromised attendees who might have issues with bleacher seating in the gymnasium.

Ivey said demand for advance free ticketing, as required by the U.S. Navy Band, has been strong. He encouraged interested concertgoers to visit the TEF website – www.TEFconcerts.com – and look for the clickable red banner at the top which will take them to the ticketing website.
