CAIRO – A Cairo High cheerleader is not done cheering from the sidelines. Bree Mills will be cheering collegiately at Andrew College.

Mills recently signed a letter-of-intent with the National Junior College Athletic Association school. It is a well-earned accomplishment for the Syrupmaker, says Cairo cheerleading coach Elisabeth Broome.

“Before she came to us in high school, she was a competitive cheerleader at one of our local gyms. She’s a fantastic tumbler, and she’s probably one of our best tumblers that we had this year,” Broome said. “She’s skilled. She had skills before she came to us and has perfected them over the four years. That’s how I knew she’d be a good candidate for college.

“We’re very excited for her. She’s cheered all four years, and I’ve coached her all four years. She did football and basketball all four of those years. Bree is one of those that’s extremely dedicated, always shows up on time.”

Mills was also persistent and determined to find a collegiate home. She scouted out colleges to find the right place for her to cheer. She scored the scholarship from Andrew College. Mills will also cheer for sports outside of just football.

This marks the first cheerleader in Broome’s five years at Cairo that has signed a scholarship offer to cheer in college. Broome is hopeful it will be the first of many, as Mills has set a standard for others to follow.

“That’s what I’m excited about. Hopefully, we have some more coming after her,” Broome said.

Andrew College is a private college located in Cuthbert, Georgia.
