THOMASVILLE – The Thomasville tennis teams fell to region foe Bacon County on Tuesday. Despite the loss, Thomasville played very well and kept this game very close.
“We’re in a much tougher region this year that’s very competitive at tennis,” said Thomasville head tennis coach Hannah Edwards.
The match was extremely close with eight of the ten matches going three sets.
“I’ve never seen that many matches go into a tie break in one game,” Edwards said.
While the Thomasville boys lost all three of their singles matches, they all went to a third set. The doubles team of Eli Hines and Pace Hale pushed their match to three sets as well.
Ruby Do won her match in three sets, as did Ella Rodd as she won the last two sets to secure victory.
Do and Rodd’s victories would be Thomasville’s only two wins of the day.
The tough, long, and gruling matches showed Edwards and the Bulldogs how well they battled and what they need to work on to make sure they get the result they want next time.
“It definitley tested their stamina and endurance,” Edwards said. “It was and eye opener. We need to do some more conditioning at practice so we can build that stamina and edurance up.”
Thomasville has done well this season. The girls currently sit at 6-3 with a region record of 1-2. The Boys have the same region record, but sit at 4-5 overall.
