Good news

The word “gospel” means “good news.” And it is indeed good news! In fact, it is the greatest news the world has ever heard. It is the best of all possible news. It excels every message ever heard or delivered to anyone.
The Apostle Mark says, “The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand, Repent, and believe in the gospel” (Mark 1:15). The Apostle Paul declared, “For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes, for the Jew first and also for the Greek” (Romans 1:16).
What exactly is the gospel? It has been succinctly described as simply, “Jesus Saves.” But to be specific, it means that anyone who truly believes that Christ is literally the Son of God and has the power and willingness to save all who call on Him for salvation will be converted and adopted into the family of God that very moment.
Not only that, but God provides at the same moment the Holy Spirit to dwell in the believer’s heart. Furthermore, God also provides one or more spiritual gifts to all who trust their souls to Christ.
Think about this and realize that of all the blessings God could bestow on man, here is the best of all by far. During man’s lifetime on Earth, God provides not only life, but everything he needs to thrive and do well. However, the most wonderful part of the gospel is that, when one believes and calls on Christ for salvation, all his sins, past, present, and even future, are wiped out. The Bible declares that the saved soul is “washed.” This means that all his sins are wiped out and forgiven because of the sacrifice of His life that Jesus gave on the cross of Calvary.
Just think how wonderful that is! Everything I have ever done in rebellion against God, every sin and thought amiss, is forgiven and forgotten. When God looks down on any saved soul, He does not see the vile sinner that each one is. Instead, He only sees the righteousness of Christ imputed to everyone who is a believer.
What this means is that every believer in Christ, everyone who has trusted the Lord Jesus for salvation is now fit for Heaven, regardless of how sinful he was, is, or will be in future. And that is fantastic news because every saved soul will continue to sin as long as he is alive on Earth. This is due to the fact that everyone still has what Paul referred to as the “Old man.” In other words, every believer, regardless of how devout he may be, continues to yield on occasion to the temptations of Satan. Every believer continues to deal with his flesh, which is inherently evil.
Jesus even called His own apostles “evil.” He told them, “If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask Him!” (Matthew 7:11). And such good gifts! The best gift of all is eternal life. This means that the souls of all saints (Christians) will live forever in Paradise.
Too many preachers today preach what Paul called “works salvation,” by which they claim that you must be “good” and do this and do not do that in order to see Heaven. This is, of course, heresy. Salvation is free and cannot be earned. It is by grace through faith in Christ alone. (Ephesians 2:8-9).
So, let us share the best news man has ever been handed on this Earth. Let us share the gospel message with others. It may be that the Holy Spirit will prevail with them so that they, too, can be with all other believers in Heaven forever.
