THOMASVILLE- The City of Thomasville will offer two days of free, one-on-one stormwater design sessions on February 25-26 to provide residents with expert guidance on rain gardens and rain barrels. Stormwater is the runoff water from rain, melting snow, or ice that doesn’t soak into the ground but picks up pollutants like litter, chemicals, and bacteria when flowing into storm drains and eventually landing in waterways.

Whether you enjoy yardwork, are facing a specific stormwater challenge, want to protect local waterways, or are looking for ways to conserve water and reduce your water bill, these design sessions are a great opportunity. Sessions will offer residents a unique chance to get expert advice at no cost and take proactive steps toward sustainable landscaping.

Stormwater Specialist Jessica Brown will conduct the sessions and help residents develop customized plans, including plant recommendations and practical design solutions. “Stormwater runoff can have a significant impact on our local environment, but small changes like installing a rain garden or rain barrel can make a big difference,” said Brown.
