CAIRO- Christopher Jowers, a fugitive wanted for felony theft in Grady County, was apprehended in Montrose County, Colorado on January 12, 2025. The Grady County Sheriff’s Office had been investigating Jowers since 2024 after receiving multiple complaints from victims who had paid Jowers for construction services that were never completed.
GCSO Investigator Jake Bush initiated the investigation, securing a warrant in December 2024, after efforts to locate Jowers since September of that year had been unsuccessful. Through diligent efforts, investigators traced Jowers’ vehicle to Montrose County, Colorado. Local businesses were contacted, and it was confirmed that Jowers was in the area.
The Montrose Police Department was notified and took Jowers into custody. On January 30, 2025, Grady County Sheriff’s Deputies traveled to Colorado to transport Jowers back to Grady County, where he was booked on one count of felony theft by conversion.
Currently, there are three additional cases under investigation, with an estimated total loss exceeding $100,000. The investigation is ongoing.
Sheriff Michael Prince would like to express his gratitude to the Sanford Police Department, Grand Junction Police Department, Montrose Police Department, and the Montrose County Sheriff’s Office for their exceptional assistance in capturing Jowers.
Prince also reiterated that accountability is non-negotiable.
“If you commit felony crimes of this nature, we are coming to get you,” he said.
Jowers was released on a $100,000 bond.
