Bulldogs making final push in regular season

THOMASVILLE – With the regular season coming to an end this week, the 12-9 Bulldogs are making a push in their last three games of the season. Starting with Bacon County tonight, Thomasville will take on the Raiders followed by Worth County on Friday and Jeff Davis on Saturday, which is senior night.
The Bulldogs currently sit at 12-9 on the season. Thomasville’s 6-3 region record leaves them at second in the region behind 7-3 Worth County. This makes Friday’s matchup with the Rams a high-stakes region contest. If the Bulldogs can take down Worth and win at least one of their games against Bacon or Jeff Davis, they will likely take the region title.
While Thomasville lost their earlier bout with Worth County on January 29, 71-68, the Bulldogs have defeated both Jeff Davis and Bacon County this season.
One wrinkle in the Bulldogs region title hopes is Fitzgerald. Thomasville took a 72-59 loss to Fitzgerald on Tuesday and it didn’t help their title hopes. The Canes are now right on the Bulldogs’ tails. Fitzgerald, who sits at 7-3 and in third place, has one more region game against Jeff Davis. They beat the Yellowjackets earlier in the season and so will likely finish with an 8-4 region record. This puts the Bulldogs in a tough spot, but as the old adage goes: winning solves everything.
