Two cats shot in Downtown Thomasville in 48 hours

Dear Editor:
I am reaching out with deep concern regarding a disturbing incident that recently took place in downtown Thomasville. My cat, Tangerine, was found shot in both the head execution style and abdomen in front of the steps of my residence which is located directly on the brick streets in the heart of town—an area where such violence should never occur. Even more alarming, this is the second cat that has been murdered in the past 48 hours.
Tangerine was last seen alive Monday evening around 8 p.m. and I discovered him deceased around 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday. I am asking for the public’s help in finding out who is responsible. If anyone saw anything suspicious during this time frame, they should contact the Thomasville Police Department immediately.
Animal cruelty is not only heartbreaking but also a serious warning sign. Studies show that those who harm animals often escalate to harming people. This is not just about pets—it’s about the safety of our entire community.
I urge you to report on this situation to raise awareness and encourage anyone with information to come forward. Our community deserves to know that something this violent is happening in our town, and action must be taken before it escalates further. There have also been multiple complaints someone trapping cats who belong to people and shooting the cats in the trap.
Sincerely,
Jennifer Bryant
