THOMASVILLE- The Vashti Center, a faith-based nonprofit providing residential care and behavioral health services for foster youth, recently received a generous $15,000 donation from Flowers Auto Group who is the primary sponsor and original visionary among other creative minds like Kathleen Kelly of Kevin’s Outdoor & Sporting Apparel and Stephanie White, who continue to support Vashti’s annual fundraiser each year. Although the format changed over the years, the concept remains the same and the fun never stopped. The event is so popular that Thomasville’s version of Monopoly (Thomopoly) has a play for Dinner on the Bricks!
The annual fundraiser raises money to support general operations of the whole organization. Vashti’s residential program serves 20 youth from across the state of Georgia—10 boys and 10 girls—providing a safe and nurturing environment where they can heal, grow, and thrive. And that makes up approximately 10% of the business. Vashti offers an after school clubhouse for Thomas County and City Schools for children with behavioral health issues which makes up another 10% of the business. Finally, the largest portion of operations for Vashti is its community-based behavioral health program, which serves six counties in school-based settings for children dealing with behavioral health disorders in southwest Georgia.
“Our relationship with David Flowers as one of our board members is invaluable to our organization, and the partnership we’ve formed over the past decade forged a lifetime of opportunities opened up for our children and youth who are the most underserved in our state. David is a true asset to the success of Vashti’s future,” said David Sofferin, Executive Director of Vashti.
