THOMASVILLE – The Thomasville Bulldogs bounced the Brooks County Trojans on Thursday as they opened the Holiday Hoopfest tournament. A large second-half push helped Thomasville to a first-round victory, 79-57, to propel them to the second round.

It was a landmark win for the Bulldogs as their 79 points scored is their season-high, surpassing their previous high of 69 against Cairo. The 22-point win is also the Bulldogs’ largest margin of victory this season.

This marks the Bulldogs’ third victory in a row, which follows a 2-2 start that saw them defeat Bainbridge twice and lose to Thomas County Central and Lowndes. They lost those games by a combined three points.

Brooks County was the Bulldogs’ first Class A opponent, though the Trojans are in a different division. With a statement victory over the Trojans, wins over Class AAA programs Bainbridge and Cairo, and two very close games against much higher classification teams the Bulldogs have forced the rest of Class A D1 to pay attention.

Thomasville will take on Jenkins out of Savannah, Georgia tonight at 7 p.m.
