THOMASVILLE – Thomas County Central’s flag football team established multiple firsts during its inaugural season.
It won eight games. It made the playoffs and won a postseason game. To cap the season, the Lady Yellow Jackets also had several players to be recognized on the Division 4-Area 1 All-Area team.
Senior Paige Parkerson and junior Jaida Pinkins were selected as all-area athletes on the first-team offense. Junior wide receiver Celeste Owens was a first-team selection as well.
Sophomore athlete Lexi Frysz was also selected to the first-team all-area defense as was junior rusher Zykierra Hightower.
Freshman quarterback Kate Thedford was named to the second-team offense as was sophomore athlete Qua’Maya Yearby and junior running back Dlaesha Spencer. Junior linebacker Mackenzie Smith was named to the second-team defense, while senior quarterback Sage Butler was an honorable mention selection.
“I am very proud of our girls that made the all-area team. Proud would be an understatement of how I feel about all of the girls to be honest,” Central coach Chad Parkerson said. “They are highly athletic, coachable and elite teammates that represent Thomas County in the best way. This group was the perfect group to be the originals.”
