FITZGERALD- The MacIntyre Park Middle School (MPMS) girls 8th grade basketball team shut down Fitzgerald on Wednesday 35-21 and captured the region championship, while the boys fell to Fitzgerald 55-33 in their region championship game.

Justyce Cole paced MacIntyre Park Middle School’s girls with 23 points, while Aubrey Spivey added four and Dasani Davis chipped in three. It was a dominant defensive effort, said head coach Rashad Spivey.

“It’s very awesome. These girls committed to playing defense,” Spivey said.

MacIntyre Park Middle School only allowed seven points in the second half after leading 17-14 at halftime. It finished the season with a 12-3 record.

In the boys game, Rashad Andrews led MacIntyre Park with 14 points, while Mason Hill added six points. MacIntyre Park boys finished the season 7-6.
