THOMASVILLE – It was a good time on Saturday evening for the red and gold as the Thomasville Bulldogs moved to .500, defeating Bainbridge 61-45.
It was a solid and important night for the Bulldogs as they played a good all-around game, limiting the Bearcats to their second-lowest point total of the season and netting their second-largest point total this year, which included a 27-point third quarter that ultimately led to their victory.
It was a close game at halftime with the Bulldogs leading 21-18. However, the Bulldog’s massive third quarter blew the game wide open, giving them a 17-point lead and making their 14-13 fourth quarter obsolete.
Three Bulldogs secured double-digit points with Xavier Burks Jr leading the team with 16 and netting a double-double with 11 rebounds. Sophomore Major Mitchell made his seven minutes count with a perfect night from beyond the arch, netting nine points.
Thomasville showed off their defensive prowess as well as they secured 24 defensive rebounds and 16 steals, led by Monte Colvin’s six.
This win moves Thomasville to 2-2 on the season. Both of their wins thus far came over Bainbridge, while their losses came to higher-classified Thomas County Central and Lowndes. The Bulldogs’ next opponent will be highway rival Cairo, who they will face at Cairo on Friday.
