THOMASVILLE – Just one year after going 6-6, the Thomasville Bulldogs had an excellent comeback season that saw them go 10-3 overall, 5-1 in region play, be consistently ranked in the top ten in their classification, string together a five-game win streak, and make the quarterfinals of the state playoffs. It was a remarkable turnaround for the senior-led Bulldogs squad, who have been honored with 23 All-Region selections.
Player of the Year is something every player and program strives for. The Bulldogs had two and they will both be coming back. Junior quarterback Cam Hill was named Co-Offensive Player of the Year and sophomore kicker Camdon Christie was named Special Teams Player of the Year.
Four Thomasville seniors made first-team All-Region offense, including running back Ant Anderson, offensive lineman Jaylen Walden, and receivers Rex Schofill and Si Wilson. Junior running back Lavonte Cole also made first-team offense.
Making the defensive All-Region first-team are Senior D-linemen Geremiah Humbert and Keymon Jefferson, Thomasville’s one-two punch. Linebackers EJ Bean, senior, and Joe Douglas, junior, also made first-team defense along with sophomore defensive back AJ Hill.
Making second-team All-Region defense are D-linemen and seniors Jaylan Bryant and Rah’Darius McCoy. Senior linebacker Tyler Ivey and junior DB Kayden Walker also made second-team defense.
Second-team All-Region offense was split between juniors and seniors, with senior tight end Hunter Blanton and senior O-lineman Tyler Hayes making the cut. Junior receivers Nigel Pittman and DeMario Sawyer made second-team offense as well.
Sophomore Makari Williams made second-team All-Region as a punter.
The Bulldogs also had a pair of players receive honorable mentions. Hard-hitting junior running back Leelend Chapman on offense and senior D-lineman Dakarri Meeks on defense received honorable mentions.
