THOMASVILLE- On the afternoon of Tuesday, December 3, 2024, the Organization for Associate Degree Nursing inducted 3 new members into the Alpha Delta Nu (ADN) Honor Society. The formal ceremony was held at SRTC-Thomasville. The inductees included the following students from the Fall 2024 Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) graduates: Tiffany McIntyre of Ochlocknee.

The Organization for Associate Degree Nursing (OADN) approved the formation of the Alpha Delta Nu (ADN) Honor Society, a national honor society for associate degree nursing students that recognizes the achievements of nursing students and promotes excellence in the nursing profession. Southern Regional Technical College has been chartered as the Iota Gamma Chapter, the first chapter to be established in the state of Georgia.

The society is focused on fostering leadership, scholarship, and professionalism among nursing students, with a particular emphasis on academic excellence and service to the community. To maintain membership eligibility, the student must have earned a grade of B or higher in each nursing class, demonstrated conduct on campus and in the clinical areas that reflects integrity and professionalism, and completed a community service project during the provisional membership period.

ASN Faculty, Sadie Burke, DNP, APRN, FNP-C, said, “Along with meeting these rigorous academic achievements and representing the top 7% of the largest ASN graduating class, they executed a powerful community service project to provide local school-aged children with the necessary hygiene products to help them feel confident, healthy, and ready to learn. Through this project, our inductees also learned valuable lessons about the importance of community involvement, teamwork, and the role we will play as nurses in addressing social determinants of health. Many children struggle with access to basic hygiene products, and by helping bridge that gap, we are promoting not only physical health but also emotional and social well-being.”

The purpose of OADN is to expand networks that promote leadership, collaboration, and advocacy to further enrich nursing education and the communities they serve. OADN provides continuing education opportunities, leadership development programs, and represents the needs to associate degree nursing program’s to leaders in government and influential organizations.
