THOMASVILLE- The Destination Thomasville Tourism Authority (DTTA), the official destination marketing organization for Thomasville, Georgia, is expanding its territory to encompass all of Thomasville and Thomas County, Georgia. This marks the area’s first acting authority tasked with promoting travel, enhancing visitor experience, and strengthening the overall tourism economy in the communities of Barkwick, Boston, Coolidge, Meigs, Pavo, and Thomasville combined.

Broadening the DTTA’s reach will lead the destination into a new era, energize its marketing, modernize its interaction with visitors and residents, and grow the tourism economy. As an independent destination partner to the City of Thomasville, the DTTA will be able to showcase its unique historical and cultural values to a national audience and expand marketing support for the entire country.

“Destination Thomasville Tourism Authority is committed to being a great steward of our destination. We believe this formation will create a chain reaction that leads to a better visitor experience and enhances the overall quality of places for both our residents and visitors alike,” said Scott Chastain, City Councilmember and DTTA board chair. “I am confident we have assembled the right team and volunteer leadership to carry us forward in championing Thomas County.”

As a premier tourism destination, the organization is keen to create a culture of innovation, growth, and success. By increasing the exposure of Thomas County with those actively seeking to travel within the state of Georgia, generating short-term and long-term bookings, the organization will elevate the destination’s visibility more than in years past. Simultaneously, the DTTA will spotlight pillars such as land and lore, wellness, sustainability, agribusiness, preservation, arts and cultures, sports and more. Soon, the tourism authority will reveal the 2025 tourism strategy for the community and outline additional key focus areas.

“We want our community to know that tourism is not just about the visitor experience; it is also a vital component that supports the quality of life for residents and local businesses,” explained Lauren Arwood, current board member of DTTA. “With the expansion of DTTA, we’re creating meaningful brand evolution to maintain and grow our standard of tourism that will benefit the entire county.”

As it relates to personnel, the DTTA is in the initial stages of interviewing and hiring the authority’s CEO position. The esteemed hire will effectively lead and accelerate the implementation of the Destination Thomasville Tourism Authority’s strategic tourism plan for Thomas County.
