THOMASVILLE- Thomasville’s Covey Film Festival is seeking young aspiring filmmakers to participate in its 2025 Student Film Competition.
Open to 10th through 12th grade students in Thomas and Grady counties, the competition is accepting original student films of three minutes or less, incorporating this year’s theme of “Landmarks: What was, what is, and what will be.”
Landmarks is partnering again this year with Covey Film Festival, the signature fundraising event benefiting the Thomasville Community Resource Center to encourage local students to submit their works, which will be judged by film professionals. Cash prizes will be awarded to the top three entries.
Film entries must be submitted by December 2, and a copy of the filmmaker’s student ID must be included. For more information or submission details, log onto the Covey website at https://coveyfilmfestival.org/ or email info@coveyfilmfestival.org.
Madi Cook a former winner, said the competition had a lasting impact on her.
“In high school, I submitted a short film to the Covey Student Film Competition,” Cook recalled. “The moment my name was called cemented my confidence in my creativity. It’s a belief that continues to fuel my passion in my professional career today.”
Since its inception, Covey Film Festival has raised more than $100,000 to help fund educational and enrichment programs at TCRC, which now serves more than 500 children, their families and the community in multiple locations in Thomas, Brooks, Grady, and Mitchell counties.
Since 1966, Landmarks has worked to preserve, promote, and protect the architecture, history, and landscape unique to the Thomas County area for the enjoyment and economic benefit of present and future generations.
