THOMASVILLE – It was a tough first round for the Thomasville Lady Bulldogs as their season ended on back-to-back losses to Haralson County.
Game one was difficult for the Lady Bulldogs as they had a tough time getting on base with just four hits. Avery Hurst was able to score as she drove the ball to deep left field for a one-run homer to bring Thomasville within one. Haralson picked it up after that, however, responding with two runs in the fifth and three in the sixth. The Lady Trojans would go on to win game one 7-1.
Usually, when you score 11 runs in a game you come out on top, but game two was a high-scoring affair that saw Thomasville come out on the loosing end. The scoring began immediately with Haralson scoring two in the first and Thomasville responded with Hurst scoring on a Khiler Oahlhof pop fly.
After a scoreless second inning, Oehlhof sent a double screaming to center field that scored Cecelia Myers and tied the game at two. Thomasville would take the lead in the fourth as a Hurst double sent Fallyn McDougald in for the 3-3 tie, followed by a Jaelyn Oehlhof single that scored Hurst. The Lady Bulldogs took a 4-3 lead, but they weren’t done yet as Myers tripled to score Oehlhof, making it 5-3.
That lead wouldn’t hold as Haralson dropped four runs in the fifth and one in the sixth and the game headed into the final frame with Haralson up 8-7.
The seventh inning would see 10 runs scored between the Lady Trojans and the Lady Bulldogs. Haralson got things started with five hits, including a home run, and six runs scored to put the pressure on Thomasville in the form of a 14-7 lead.
Thomasville attempted to mount a comeback but was only able to put up four runs in the seventh and dropped the game 14-11.
Thomasville finished the 2024 season 11-13. They were .500 in the regular season, going 11-11 and 9-9 in region play. They finished fourth in the region.
