Thomas University dinner event raises scholarships for area students

THOMASVILLE- Thomas University raised approximately $19,000 for students from Grady County at the Cairo’s Scholarship Soirée dinner event on Thursday, October 3 at Collins Place Venue in Cairo.
The financial gifts were made possible by donations from the events sponsors, which will go toward scholarships for students from Grady County. The scholarships are to ease the financial burden of tuition cost and other expenses as they attain their college education that prepares them for successful careers.
The sponsors of the event were Tallahassee Coca-Cola Bottling Company, Diversified Benefits Administrators, Big Bend Agri-Services, Sweet Georgia Bottle Shop, JTEK, Synovus, United National Bank, Archbold Grady, BRAVO Sound Production, Cox Septic Solution, Graco Fertilizer, Royce’s Towing & Recovery, Magnolia Place Senior Living, Powe Automotive, Southern Insurance, Representative Darlene Taylor, HD 173, Blue Wave Pools and Spas, Melissa and Todd Butler, Casa Grande, CG Cleaning Services, DRE Farms, Fresh Start Global Outreach Ministries, Grady EMC, Grady Finance, New Hire Solutions, and Southern Promotions and Apparel.
“Having a Grady County Scholarship shows students that their local community supports them,” Event Planning Committee Chair, Chelsie Cosby (‘15), said. “It also helps us to keep some of those students here even after they graduate.”
The planning committee also includes Taylor Gilliard, Jennifer Jarvis, Jeremy Jones, Brande Strickland (‘97), and Katie Williams.
The scholarships will be awarded to students pursuing undergraduate degrees during the 2025-26 academic year.
