SRTC Nurse Aide graduates honored in Pinning Ceremony

THOMASVILLE — On Tuesday, December 12, Southern Regional Technical College (SRTC) recognized eleven graduating Nurse Aide Accelerated students at a pinning ceremony at SRTC-Thomasville honoring their achievements. The program honored students from the SRTC-Thomasville cohort:

Shakundra Love of Albany, Katie Wade of Baconton, Tiara Speed and Brenda White of Cairo, Courtney Hicks of Camilla, Cheniya Conage of Meigs, Shyneshia Wynn of Norman Park and Toddrick Davis, Keya Lewis, Leland Royal and Ashaureah Wright of Thomasville.

The Nurse Aide Accelerated Technical Certificate of Credit Program is approved by the Georgia Medical Care Foundation. During their five-week accelerated program, the students completed the classroom training, laboratory practice, and clinical rotations required to earn their Nurse Aide certification. These graduates are now eligible to sit for the National Nurse Aide Assessment program which determines competency to become enrolled in the Georgia State Nurse Aide registry.

“This class of diverse students representing multiple generations is poised to enter the workforce and immediately fill a huge need at the bedside of many individuals needing care and compassion,” said Nurse Aide Accelerated instructor Karen Kelso, RN, MSN. “The Fall 2023 Second Cohort of Accelerated Nurse Aids are multi-talented and many already have skill sets that combined with nursing assistance will make a positive impact.”

SRTC offers over 150 degree, diploma, and certificate programs that are designed to get students quickly into their desired career, and 28 general education courses that transfer to the University System of Georgia institutions and 19 private colleges and universities in Georgia. SRTC has instructional sites located in eleven counties across Southwest Georgia for the convenience of their students.
