THOMASVILLE- The Thomasville History Center was joined by Imagine Thomasville for a ribbon cutting ceremony to usher in the newly updated gift shop on December 6, 2023. For many years, the Center has offered a range of books and posters focused on Thomas County’s history. With an expanded range of goods, the Center hopes to supply visitors not only with more reading material for the curious, but also with items that will interest everyone who walks through their doors from the young in body to the young at heart. These products reflect the Center’s collections, providing guests and locals with mementos of their time at the Museum and in Thomas County. Customized products include puzzles, stickers, and postcards featuring historic maps and locations, as well as t-shirts and totes to help locals represent their hometown spirit. Products from local artists and makers are also featured, supporting small local businesses, and keeping contributions local.

The Lobby also functions as the Center’s new location for all touring and membership needs. Guests can purchase tickets to the museum and special tours from the front desk. Members and non-members can make reservations for special events like Crate to Plate and Pilau or renew their membership with ease.

Proceeds from The Lobby support the Thomasville History Center through educational programs, collection conservation, historic building upkeep, and more.

The Thomasville History Center was formed in 1952 and opened the museum within the Flowers-Roberts House in 1972. Since then, the History Center’s collections have grown to include more than 500,000 artifacts and archival materials and eight historic structures. The History Center, in partnership with the state of Georgia, also operates the historic Lapham-Patterson House. Their board, staff, and growing membership invites the public to join them in enriching the community through the exploration and discovery of its history, people, and stories.
