DESIGN YOUR OWN CENTERPIECE: Floral designer and horticulturist Laura Strickland leading last year’s Youth Floral Design Workshop.

THOMASVILLE- As part of its Yuletide Season events and programs, Pebble Hill Plantation is offering a Floral Design and Ornament workshop for children on Saturday, December 16th in the Learning Center. The workshop will be led by Pebble Hill’s horticulturalist and floral designer, Laura Strickland of Cairo, Georgia. Strickland has more than 30 years of experience in floral design, having worked at The Sea Island Company in addition to her 24 years at Pebble Hill.

Participants in this youth floral design workshop will create their own holiday centerpieces with fresh greenery gathered by Strickland from the historic grounds and woodlands of Pebble Hill. There will also be a portion of the workshop dedicated to making Christmas ornaments from all natural materials, in the fashion of what would have been traditionally used in the décor of the 1930s Main House at Pebble Hill.

All materials for the workshop will be provided and light refreshments will be served. This is a fun and festive way for children ages 8 and up to spend a Saturday morning. Participants are asked to bring their own gardening gloves and small pruning shears to use while handling the fresh greenery. Pre-registration is required for the workshop and the cost is $30.
