Night Hawks open SSAC play against Knights

THOMASVILLE- The Thomas University Night Hawks (1-2, 1-0) hosted Middle Georgia State University (1-4, 0-1) Thursday evening for their first conference game of the season.

In the first quarter, both teams would connect on four field goals a piece. The Nighthawks’ scoring would be highlighted by Sierra Bell, who would connect on two three pointers.

Thomas would continue to capitalize on scoring opportunities in the second period to lead the Knights 32-26 heading into the half.

Coming out of the half, the Night Hawks would go on a run to increase the lead they had built in the first half. Thomas shot 57% from the field and 50% from behind the arch. This shooting efficiency allowed Thomas to enter the fourth quarter holding a 52-34 lead.

To begin the fourth quarter of play, the Knights would go on a run of their own to bring the game within three points with just three minutes left to play in regulation. The Night Hawks would get a couple stops and knock down free throws to capture a 64-56 win.

This victory marks the first win in Coach Foxx’s career as a head coach and first in his tenure at Thomas University.

Sheridan Green recorded 13 points, 3-6 from three. Ryann Woodley would score 10 points, grab 9 rebounds, and tally 6 assists. Dejah Wilson would record 14 rebounds, 9 points, and 5 assists. Sierra Bell would go 4-11 from three to record 12 points. Kennedy Collins recorded 9 points to go along with 5 steals.

The Night Hawks shot 34% from the field and 34% from behind the arc.
