Outstanding athletes from Brookwood School honored at the Thomasville/Thomas County Sports Hall of Fame

THOMASVILLE- Brookwood School was well represented at Thursday night’s Thomasville — Thomas County Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony. Antwan “T.J.” Thomas Jr. and Madeline “Maddie” Duncan were selected to receive the Bill Raney Athlete of the Year award for Brookwood’s Class of 2024.

Thomas and Duncan have not only excelled in their respective sports, but have also demonstrated strong character, leadership and a commitment to community service throughout their high school careers.

A football and basketball standout, Thomas, is a four-year varsity starter showcasing versatility as running back, wide receiver, corner, and safety. He is also the recipient of remarkable recognitions such as three-time All-Region and two-time All-State awards, along with the distinguished titles of ITG Next Defensive Player of the Year 2022 and All-Region Player of the Year for GIAA 2022. Notably, Thomas holds the esteemed career record for the most receiving yards, 3,261; 220 catches; and 34 touchdowns.

Thomas is also a solid contributor to the basketball team as a two-year varsity starter and All-Region player. He was also an integral member of the record-setting 4×100 meter relay track team in 2023. He is a devoted member of the choir at Missionary Baptist Church, a valued participant in the Tip of the Spear Athletic Council at Brookwood, and a volunteer for Hands On Thomas County.

Madeline Duncan, a versatile three-sport athlete, was a standout member of the Basketball State Championship team in the 2019-2020 season. She has earned accolades including the titles of All-Region, All-State, and the distinguished recognition as Defensive Player of the Year 2022. From her debut on the varsity team in 8th grade, she has amassed an impressive total of 547 points with 491 rebounds. In addition to her four years of basketball achievements, Duncan has contributed to soccer, cheer, and track.

Duncan has demonstrated academic excellence as a member of the National Honor Society, Spanish Honor Society, and recipient of the Merit in Finance award. With a 4.0 GPA and more than 30 hours of dual enrollment, she has shown a commitment to scholarly achievement. Her leadership extends to serving in the Fellowship of Christian Athletes and First Presbyterian Church. She has dedicated her time as an active member of the Tip of the Spear Athletic Council, serves as a mentor for Brookwood’s Girl Talk, and has volunteered at youth sports and cheer camps for the past four years.
