READY, SET, SPIN: Vann Middleton, Archbold Foundation, Lauren Radford & Melvin Hugans, Thomasville YMCA.

THOMASVILLE- On October 28, the YMCA hosted one of its popular Competition Spin classes to raise money for the Archbold Cancer Center’s Resource Fund. The class, led by YMCA instructors Melvin Hugans and Lauren Radford, was titled “Healthy Competition” with music promoting strength and endurance. Riders were encouraged to wear pink and asked to dedicate their ride to a current breast cancer patient or survivor.

According to Hugans, ”The YMCA Spin Community was eager to support The Archbold Cancer Resource Center, knowing the impact cancer can have on individuals and families. We were honored to support this outstanding initiative.”

This Spin event raised a total of $1,025 with over 25 riders receiving swag and special perks as a thank-you for their generous donations.

“One of the things I love about our YMCA Spin classes is the genuine sense of community,” Radford said. “I believe events like this give our fitness family an even greater purpose.”

The Cancer Center Resource Center Fund provides assistance and support to cancer patients who do not have adequate financial means for items such as wigs, breast prosthesis, and compression sleeves. It even gives free access to wellness programs at the YMCA.

Furthermore, the funds raised will also support the Center’s outreach program aimed at the underserved populations in our region that will help promote access to free mammograms for those with higher risk of developing breast cancer.
