THOMASVILLE — Thomas County Central High School student athletes Ty Brown and Sarah Stewart have been voted the Thomasville/Thomas County Hall of Fame Bill Raney Athletes of the Year for Thomas County Central.

Brown is a senior at Central and is a member of both the football and basketball teams. Playing right guard and right tackle for the Yellow Jackets on the gridiron, Brown has helped Central achieve back-to-back region titles. As a member of the Jackets tough offensive-line, Brown has been a key part of Centrals run game, which has rushed for over 1400 yards this season. As Brown has pursued a football career in college he has received offers from programs like Alcorn, Navy, Alabama State and Morgan State. Brown also participated in the US Army Bowl National Combine Series.

Sarah Stewart has been heavily involved in Yellow Jacket athletics. She has played softball for Thomas County Central for 7 years.

”Sarah has played a vital role in the success of our program. Sarah is a standout player, student, person and teammate,” said Central softball head coach Robyn Trammell.

During her time with the softball team Stewart has seen a lot of success. Just last year she helped the Central softball team to a sweet sixteen appearance and faced St. Pius Catholic in the 2023 GHSA Fastpitch Softball Super Regional.

Stewart and Brown will be honored at the Hall of Fame Banquet on Thursday, November 9th, as representatives of Thomas County Central High School.
