Eight is enough on Senior Day

THOMASVILLE- Thomas Women’s Soccer Team sent their seniors out with a blowout victory, 8-0, over the Point University Skyhawks (1-9-4, 0-6-2 SSAC). The eight goals for Thomas (9-5-1, 5-2-1 SSAC) represents their largest total against a conference opponent since making the switch to the Southern States Athletic Conference.
It took Thomas a while to get on the scoreboard in the first half. Aquene Tollefson scored in the 35’ on a pass from Sasha Manders. Eight minutes later, Manders would score a goal of her own to raise the score to 2-0, in favor of Thomas. The Night Hawks would take that lead into halftime.
Madelyn Musgrave would score via an Ali Baca assist, ten minutes into the second half to increase the Thomas lead to 3-0. Mariah McKinney would smash a penalty kick at the 64’ point, to the back of the net, for the fourth goal of the day for the Night Hawks.
Five minutes later, Manders would net her second goal of the day, putting everyone on hat trick alert. Manders would not disappoint. In the 74’, Manders would score her third goal of the day, completing the hat trick, with an assist from Katy Donaldson. Thomas would lead 6-0.
Kaitlyn Herb would add her name to the scoring column in the 83’. Just over a minite later, Donaldson would set up Herb for another goal, and the final one for the Night Hawks, maing the final 8-0.
There were no penalties in the game, by either team. Manders would total seven points on the day. Herb would add four points for the Night Hawks. Goalkeeper Hannah Keene only faced two shots on the day, making a save on both.
The Night Hawks will finish their season on the road. They will travel to Blue Mountain, MS to battle Blue Mountain University on Thursday, and then head to Pulaski, TN to face #11 Tennessee Southern on Saturday.
