Gee-simmons leads Syrupmakers to big win over Hardaway

THOMASVILLE — The Syrupmakers were on fire Friday night as they entered another region game. Taking on Hardaway in their second region contest, the Syrupmakers knotted their seventh win in a row with a 49-6 stomping of the Hawks.
It was new quarterback Juderek Gee-simmons who led the Syrupmakers to this massive victory. The senior quarterback was near perfect as he completed 90% of his passes for 189 yards and four touchdowns with an average of 18.9 yards per pass. Gee-simmons also recorded 17 rushing yards and a rushing TD.
The Syrupmakers dominated the run game as well with seven different rushers, combining for 192 yards on the ground and three touchdowns. The run game was led by KJ Spence, as he finished with 114 yards and two touchdowns. Meanwhile, Cairo’s kicking game stayed strong as freshman kicker Eli Jones went a perfect 7-7 on PAT’s.
All-in-all, it was one of the Syruomakers’ most dominant victories on the season. They had five different players responsible for touchdowns, only punted the ball once, and had 381 total yards. Cairo now finds itself firmly planted in the number one spot in the region followed by Bainbridge. Cairo’s next game against Westover is expected to be a win, but they will then take on Bainbridge, which is sure to be an interesting contest.
According to Maxpreps both teams are currently ranked in the top 75 in Georgia and both are ranked in the top ten in 4A with Bainbridge having a slight edge. With a similar average scoring differential between the two teams, both having soundly defeated several opponents, and it being a massive rivalry game, that is the game the Syrupmakers have marked on their calendar.
