TU ties with Rams

THOMASVILLE- The Thomas University Women’s Soccer team continued SSAC play this past Saturday. The contest lived up to its expectations as the contest against the Rams was announced as the Game of the Week for the conference. The matchup resulted in a draw as both teams scored two goals a piece.

Mobile (4-2-2, 1-0-1) quickly got themselves on the board with only a minute and a half played into the contest as Mobile’s Trinity Barden netted her first goal of the game.

Despite the lone goal for the Rams at that point of the game, both sides struggled to find an answer for the entire first half.

Thomas (4-2-1, 0-1-1) found an opportunity to end their scoring drought coming out of the second half, as Freshman Kaitlyn Herb netted a on goal in the 51’ minute to tie the game.

Herb was not done with her scoring spree. The Port Orange, Florida native found the back of the net off a brilliant header to give TU the lead, after a long nail-biting exchange of possessions.

The Rams were able to answer back with nearly five minutes left in the matchup. Mobile’s Raegan Latiolasis notched the final goal of the game.

Both sides could not find a solid opportunity in the final minutes of play to gain a lead of their own.

The Rams were able to take a total of eleven shots with (8) of those on goal as Thomas led the category with twenty-four and (12) on goal. Mobile saw a total of ten saves on the day as Thomas ended the match with six. Additionally, Mobile had three opportunities at corner kicks as Thomas had nine.
