THOMASVILLE- Performers and supporters alike joined together for an evening of celebration of Thomasville Onstage & Company’s just finished performance season at the annual TOSAC “Gala” event held Saturday evening under the stars in the courtyard of the downtown Marriott.

Nearly 100 in attendance purchased season tickets, patronages and bid on silent auction items, while enjoying catered food from JB Crumbs and entertainment from performers and numbers, including many featured in this year’s past shows.

Performers included Cameron Parker and Ransom Young, “Agony” from “Into the Woods,” Victoria Stewart, “Pathetic” from “Matilda, Jr.,” Trinity Richardson,“Landslide” from Fleetwood Mac, Jaci Nix, “Stay with Me” from “Into the Woods,” Moss Musselwhite, Carson Chapman, Marion Rose Young, and Ransom Young, “Johanna Reprise” from “Sweeney Todd,” JW Watson, “Run to You” from Whitney Houston, Camille Kennedi, “The Smell of Rebellion” from “Matilda, Jr.,” and Cameron Parker, JW Watson, and Moss Musselwhite, “The I Love you Song” from “25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee.”

After completing a silent auction of various items, TOSAC president Kimsey Hodge shared with those gathered that it was a record-setting year for the performance company, as every performance was either sold out or very close to it. She and TOSAC board member Pat Orr also recognized the directors of each performance with a small gift.

“It was the biggest Gala TOSAC has had in my 22 years with the organization,” Hodge noted. “The Gala follows an incredibly successful season where we had over 1,500 reservations and over 200 walk-ins without reservations. The Young Actor variety shows brought in 360 reservations with around 50 walk-ins. We’ve gone from four shows each year to an upcoming seven productions for the 2023-24 season. The Young Actor’s group also produces a variety show after each production, each one with a special theme.”

“One of the reasons we have had such an amazing season is attributed to the Young Actor’s program that began last summer. Much praise to Cameron Parker and Ransom Young for bringing a fresh, new life into our little theatre with a troupe of young actors,” she added.

As the night wound down, Hodge and board member Karen Farmer unveiled the tentative performance schedule for the 2023-2024 season:

“The Best Christmas Pageant Ever”

“The Play That Goes Wrong“

Spring Show TBD

“Peter Pan, Jr.”

“Urinetown, the Musical”

I believe our overall successes should be credited to a strong, cohesive, focused Board of Directors who go above and beyond to ensure that the Thomasville community is enriched by offering active participation in live theatre and quality entertainment,” Hodge concluded. “We need our community to join up and support us as patrons to help us continue bringing quality shows here, and to help us with needs like a badly needed updated lighting system.”
