The next Growing Grady Farmer’s Market will be held September 2nd at Davis Park in Cairo. The event features vendors selling locally grown produce and food products plus hand-crafted items, arts and craft items and a variety of artisan products. Chamber Golf Classic coming September 21st
The 24th Annual Cairo-Grady County Chamber of Commerce Golf Classic will be held at the Tired Creek Golf Course on Thursday, September 24th. There will be cash prizes for the 1st, 2nd and 3rd place teams with prizes also given for the longest drive, closest to the pin and hole-in-one. Tickets on sale now for concert to be held at Zebulon Theater on November 9th

Classes of 1990-1991 planning joint reunion
The combined Cairo High School Classes of 1990 and 1991 will be having a Collaborative 90s Class Reunion on September 15-16th. They will first meet and attend the CHS vs. Pelham High School football game on Friday, September 15th, followed by a 90s-themed party at the Grady Cultural Center. And then on Saturday, September 16th, there will be a picnic at Azalea Park from 11 a.m.-4 p.m. and a class party at the Grady Cultural Center beginning at 6 p.m. The cost is $50 per person with payment due by August 31st. 2nd annual Hispanic Heritage Month Celebration and Parade coming September 16th
The 2nd Annual Hispanic Heritage Month Celebration and Parade will be held in Downtown Cairo on Saturday, September 16th from 11 a.m.-10 p.m. There will be a parade beginning at the library at 11 a.m. plus cultural dances, awards and games, a kids corner, music and entertainment, food trucks and more. Country Legends Concert to be held at Zebulon in September
There will be a special live concert at the Zebulon Theater on Saturday, September 30th featuring Jordan Poole and the Gene Turner Band performing the music of ‘Country Legends.’ The concert will be a tribute to such legendary musicians as Conway Twitty, Keith Whitley, George Jones, Dwight Yoakam, Alan Jackson, John Anderson and more. Parent Training being offered Online for new school year
Grady County Schools remind all parents and guardians who are planning on attending any school field trip, volunteering in the school or working around students in the school in any capacity, that you must complete a mandatory training.
The training is offered online at www.prosolutionstraining.org. After completion of the training, please print the certificate that you receive and bring it to your child’s school prior to the event in order to receive the mandatory certificate card for mandated reporter training. Library seeking part-time janitor
The Roddenbery Memorial Library is currently seeking a part-time janitor to perform cleaning duties at the library. The job will be for 15-18 hours a week, Monday-Friday mornings. If interested, visit the library or complete the application at www.rmlibrary.org/employment/
Sponsorships now available for Murder Mystery Theater to benefit Thomas University
Thomas University will be hosting a Murder Mystery Dinner Theater show to benefit scholarships for students in Grady County on October 5th at the Collins Place Venue. Grady County still seeking Bus Drivers
The Grady County Schools Transportation Department is currently seeking bus drivers. These are part time jobs with responsibilities in the mornings and afternoons. All employees will be provided the necessary training to obtain a CDL and insurance benefits. You must have a high school diploma, love children and be able to drive both mornings before school and afternoons after school. If interested, contact Adrienne Cruel at 377-2124.
Senior Exercise Class meets at the library
There is a free Seniors Exercise Class that now meets at the Roddenbery Memorial Library on Mondays at 9 a.m. in the Grady Room. All area seniors are invited to attend.
Library unveils new Self-Checkout System
The Roddenbery Memorial Library has introduced a new self-checkout machine located in front of the circulation desk. Patrons of the library can check out and renew their items and view their accounts using the new system with or without assistance from the library staff. Everyone is invited to come by and try it.
New Depression and Bipolar Support Group forming in Grady County
Heart to Heart Ministry, a new bipolar and depression support group is now meeting at the Tama Community Church at the Tama Tribal Town Reservation, 104 Long Pine Drive in Whigham (off Collins Road), each Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. The support group is free and all are welcome.
