THOMASVILLE — As the season quickly approaches, Thomas County Central softball is ready to go. Their game against Coffee marks the beginning of their season and the end of a hard summer’s work of preparation.

“We’ve had a good summer,” said head coach Robyn Trammell. “It’s been hot, the girls have worked really, really hard, but we definitely have gotten better these last couple months and I feel like we’re playing well.”

Though this group is young, they remain dedicated and continue to work hard, something Trammell sees as a big strength for the team.

“Every team, every year is special in their own right,” Trammell said. “This one is just scrappy, just young, and incredibly hard working.”

This team also has some big shoes to fill. The Yellow Jackets softball team has a long history of success. Central has finished first or second in the region from 2012-2018 and made it to the sweet sixteen in the 2021-2022 season. However, for Trammell, this season is all about getting better and leaving each game a better ball player than before.

“I’ve always coached with the idea that every game is to build us to the end and make us better,” she said. “So, as long as with every game our girls are getting better and learning to put us in a better position at the end when it truly counts then I feel like that’s a success.”
