THOMASVILLE — Thomasville High School has named former Bulldogs tennis player and assistant coach Hannah Edwards as the new head tennis coach.

Edwards was born and raised in Thomasville and played tennis for the Bulldogs in her junior and senior year. Her family is deeply routed in Thomasville City Schools. Edwards’ uncle was a long time principal at Thomasville High School and her other uncle served as assistant principal at MacIntyre Park Middle Schools. Her grandparents and mother are also THS graduates.

“Thomasville City Schools just means a lot to me and my family so, it’s an honor to be able to do this,” Edwards said. “We bleed red and gold!”

Edwards has been teaching at Jerger Elementary and last year was asked by her former head coach Kelli Grave De Peralta to become the assistant coach.

“It was kind of a cool full circle moment getting to coach tennis with my former high school coach,” said Edwards.

For the Bulldogs, Edwards first year as head of the program will be a rebuilding period. The Thomasville tennis team is losing 13 varsity players to graduation, meaning that Edwards has her eyes set on the future of the Bulldogs tennis team.

“I’m hoping to bring in a lot more interest to tennis and building our tennis team back up.”
