THOMASVILLE- The Thomas County Board of Education held their called meeting on Tuesday, June 13, where Athletic Director Phillip Duplantis made a proposal for two new requirements regarding athletic events.
Duplantis first requested that all students in grads k-8th be accompanied by an adult when attending TCC football and basketball games.

He then asked that when attending football and basketball games, all spectators only carry clear or mesh bags, with exceptions for medical bags and diaper bags.
Duplantis said this aligns with surrounding area schools and is being proposed in the name of safety.
“Safety is the primary focus at any athletic event,” he said. “We just want to make the safest choices for our players, fans and spectators.”
The two proposals have yet to be adopted by the BOE, but will be decided upon at the July board meeting.
Duplantis said if approved, the school will send out plenty of reminders and post signage at the games, so no one is turned away on the night of the event.
“It’s just a win/win for everybody,” he concluded.
