HEARING HIS STORY: Retired Marine helicopter pilot Jack Howell will be the featured speaker. 

THOMASVILLE- Veterans from Thomasville, Thomas County and our region as a whole will gather for a special Memorial Day service this Monday at Sunset Gardens on US 84 in Thomasville. The program will feature comments from Jack Howell, a retired Marine helicopter pilot who helped coordinate the evacuation of American out of Saigon in 1975. Local JROTC units will also be a part of the service scheduled to begin at 11 am. The public is invited to attend. 

Many Thomas County veterans died in World War I. Forty-nine Thomas County residents were killed in World War II, five were killed in the Korean War, 30 were killed in Vietnam and two were killed fighting in Iraq and Afghanistan.
