- FROM BULLDOG TO PANTHER: Taylor celebrates her signing with family and friends.
THOMASVILLE — Thomasville diver Ann Caroline Taylor signed her letter of intent on Friday morning to join Birmingham-Southern and continue her diving career. Taylor said that her decision was centered around her desire to be close to home and attend med-school.
“I want to go to med-school after I get done,” said Taylor. “We started looking just around close to home and Birmingham-Southern, I went and visited and I loved the city. They have a great atmosphere and just all around were such a good school.”
Taylor, a multi-sport athlete, said she didn’t start taking diving seriously until last year. During her signing, Taylor stated that she did not expect to be signing for diving.
“I played soccer since sixth grade,” she said. “I quit that last year because of school. It was just more of a fun thing that I do on the side, and softball was my other main one and I played that all the way from when I was seven to this past year. I kind of fell out of love with that and I realized that diving was the only thing that was fun and interesting and I was like ‘oh, not doing this after high school kind of scares me. I want to keep going with it’”
Taylor’s skill in diving is nothing new to the Taylor family. Her grandmother was involved in USA diving. Furthermore, her mother and three of her aunts all dove. One aunt even dove at the collegiate level at Harvard.
Taylor will now continue her family’s diving legacy as a Panther, taking her abilities to Birmingham-Southern College.
