Central girls finish third at Valdosta meet

THOMASVILLE – The Thomas County Central Lady Yellow Jackets track and field team finished third last Saturday in its final regular season meet at the Last Call for All Invitational held at Valdosta High School.

Central’s top individual finishers included Shameria Wright, high jump, 5th; Alyssa Morabito, long jump, 6th; Jaida Pinkins, triple jump, 6th; Alyssa Morabito, triple jump, 7th; Jelisa Stewart, discus, 5th; Rhi’ Anna Mitchell, discus, 7th; Jaida Rice, shot put, 6th; Ja’Khia Wyche, shot put, 8th; Trinity Guion, 100-meter hurdles, 3rd; Jalisa Williams, 100-meter hurdles, 6th; Jaida Pinkins, 400 meters, 6th; J’Niyah Williams, 400 meters, 8th; Cadence Curnalia, 800 meters, 1st; Zoe Curnalia, 800 meters, 7th; Gracie Adams, 800 meters, 8th; Cadence Curnalia, 1,600 meters, 1st; Gracie Adams, 1,600 meters, 6th; Cadence Curnalia, 3,200 meters, 1st; Gracie Adams, 3,200 meters, 4th; Kayla Bass, 3,200 meters, 5th.

The Lady Yellow Jackets’ relay teams also performed well. The 4×100-meter relay team of Shameria Wright, Nia Hayes, Trinity Guion and Deau’ja White finished fourth. The 4×200-meter relay team of Alyssa Morabito, Nia Hayes, Deaj’ja White and Trinity Guion finished third. The 4×400-meter relay team of Cadence Curnalia, I’keyera Hill, Deauj’ha White and Jaida Pinkins finished second. The 4×800-meter relay team of Rebecca Hicks, I’Keyera Hill, Cadence Curnalia and Jaida Pinkins finished second.

Central will compete this week at the regionals held in Tifton, Georgia.
