THOMASVILLE — The Thomasville high school golf team won on Monday when they took on Cairo at Country Oaks. The Bulldogs played extremely well, posting a score of 151 while the Syrupmakers scored a 180. The Bulldogs are now 8-1 through what has been a very successful season.

The Bulldogs came in fourth in a tournament in Bainbridge earlier in the season and had a top 10 finish at the Brookstone Invitational. Thomasville High School golf leader and senior Brycen Jones has been playing very well, per usual. The reigning 2A State Champion won the Packer Invitational as an individual on April 1, and Golf Coach Joel Cain is hoping the Bulldogs top golfer can do it again at a higher level.

“With us moving up to 3A, he’ll have some new competition,” Cain said. “We’re looking for him to repeat.”

Jones will be headed to Georgia Southern to play golf for the Eagles and continue the program’s success on the golf course.

With all of the success the Bulldogs have had this season, they are looking forward to the area tournament. The tournament will take place in Columbus on May 1.
