- CAMP IN COLORADO: YoungLife Camp last year was hosted at Crooked Creek in Colorado. This year it will be held in North Carolina.
THOMASVILLE — As Young Life approaches its 20 year anniversary in Thomasville, the group will be holding its inaugural Clays for Camp event on Thursday, April 20. This event is to raise money to send high school kids to Young Life camp this summer at Windy Gap in Weaverville, NC. People can come out to the Ranges at Oakfield to participate in the clay shooting event.
“The goal of this event is two fold,” said Area Director Cole Ramaekers. “One: that we would be able to create funds to send kids to camp and two: to put on a fun event.”
Folks can participate as a foursome for $500. Teams will have the opportunity to shoot clays, as well as enjoy tasty bird dogs and enter a raffle. For just $20, participants can enter the raffle and will have a chance to shoot five long bird clays. For every clay taken down, the participant will receive a raffle ticket. The items raffled off will include many prizes such as, a yeti cooler, an electric bike, and a three night stay in Ellijay, Georgia.
Businesses may also sponsor the event with three different levels of sponsorship. Sponsors can pay $1,000, $4,000, or $7,500 to sponsor groups of participants and have their logo displayed at the event.
The end goal of this event, of course, is to send young high schoolers to Young Life summer camp.
At this camp the kids will walk through the gospel with their local leaders and have the opportunity to enjoy fun activities. This excited Ramaekers, as he believes it is important to build the relationship between the kids and their local ministry leaders.
“Young Life camp is unlike any other summer camp,” said Ramaekers. “We are building life long relationships. You’re not just leaving for a week and then coming home.”
The Clays for Camp event will take place on April 20 at the Ranges at Oakfield. Registration will begin at noon and the shooting will start at 1 p.m.
