Bulldogs get win over Cairo on Senior Night

THOMASVILLE — The THS Bulldogs ended senior night on a high note, beating the Cairo Syrupmakers 6-1.

The Bulldogs got things started in the first inning. Anderson Everett singled on a ground ball, before Ryan Renfroe singled, scoring Everett.

An error by the Syrupmakers put Thomasville up 2-0 in the bottom of the second inning.

Jaydon Lirette hit a grounder, reaching on an error. Jacob Jordan then hit a grounder, also reaching on an error, scoring Lirette’s courtesy runner, Parker Beckham.

Cairo scored their lone run in the top of the third inning, before THS went on a run, scoring three runs in the bottom of the fourth.

Lirette was back up to bat, singling. The pitcher then walked Brandon Allen.

With the pitcher rattled, he then hit Jordan, loading the bases.

Beck Nicholson stepped up to the batters box, singling, scoring Lirette.

Cairo then changed up their pitcher, but it wasn’t enough.

verett was walked, scoring Allen’s courtesy runner Trip Gebel, taking the Bulldogs up 4-1.

Gus Novak drove in the winning runs for Thomasville.

He singled, reaching on an error, scoring both Jordan and Nicholson.

Lirette led things off on the mound for THS, pitching three innings, allowing one run on zero hits and striking out two.

Robert Watson took the loss for Cairo, pitching three innings, allowing six runs on four hits, striking out two and walking one.

Braylon Robinson and Elijah Anderson both entered the game as relief for Watson, pitching two innings and one inning respectively.

The Bulldogs will now face Jones County in a doubleheader on Wednesday, April 5 at home. The first game begins at 5 p.m.
