THOMASVILLE — Thomasville High School held a senior recognition for their football players on Wednesday morning, announcing their plans for the future and sharing that three more players had signed on to continue playing football.
“We’ve got 13 guys here, and today we are celebrating their next step in their life journey,” said Head Coach Jonathan DeLay. “We have three of them going on to play football at the next level, we’ve got guys going to college, trade school and some joining their family business.”
DeLay said he hopes football has prepared the young men for this next step.
“Football has taught them to be where they’re supposed to be and do what they’re supposed to do and I just want to recognize them,” he said. “This is huge, we had three guys sign in February and now we’ve got all these guys.”
DeLay first recognized Ayden Aque, who will be attending Georgia College and majoring in Sports Medicine. He then recognized Cam Bates, who plans to attend UTI Miramar for trade school.
Kamarius Bradshaw then announced his intent to attend Union College in Kentucky on a football scholarship. “I went there for a visit and just really loved the environment,” Bradshaw said.
Bradshaw will be attending Union College with his teammate Hakeem Myrick, who was also recognized during Wednesday’s ceremony.
“He’s like my brother; we will be roommates in the dorm,” Bradshaw explained.
Bradshaw thanked THS and DeLay for everything he’s learned thus far.
“Thomasville is a great program,” he said. “It’s taught me to never give up and when things get hard, to keep pushing.”
Angelo Brooks also announced his intent to play football at the next level. He will be attending Georgia State University.
Brooks said he already been admitted to GSU, and although it wasn’t his first choice at the time, when the opportunity presented itself to play football there, he jumped at the chance.
Brooks will play defensive lineman at GSU, but said it will be some time before he hits the field, due to his recent surgery.
“During my time here, I’ve learned to push through adversity, so whatever happens just keep going,” he said.
Following the announcement of the three signees, DeLay continued to share other senior football players’ plans. Andrew Cannon plans to move into the family business at Cannon’s Cleaners, while Blease Conklin and Colin Crocker plan to attend Mercer University.
Logan Haha announced he will be attending Georgia College and majoring in business.
Simon Harper said he plans to attend Georgia Institute of Technology, while Beck Nicholson attends the University of North Georgia.
Brock Shiner looks forward to becoming a Georgia Southern Eagle, where he plans to major in Computer Science. Caden Shokat also plans to major in Computer Science, while attending the University of Florida.
Finally Kam Wallace will be journeying out west to attend University of South Dakota and pursue a degree in Criminology.
DeLay expressed his pride in each of the young men and told them to never give up when the going gets tough and to always remember their roots.
