Dear Editor: 

Greetings, my friends and wonderful neighbors azaleas, are in bloom, birds are chirping, nature is bursting all about and Spring is in the air. People are outside walking about, children are riding their bikes, this town is bursting with sounds of laughter, people are talking and sharing and it is a beautiful sight to see. I recently had the pleasure of having my niece, Amanda grow up here, graduate from Central High School and leave to go to start her dream-life, with a dream career in the United States Air Force. Her parents, Bill Everett and Cassie couldn’t be more proud for her. I want to encourage all of our children in Thomasville to work hard everyday, obey your parents and teachers and watch all of your dreams come true! I grew up here, too and recently had the pleasure of moving back here. Thomasville is as gorgeous as I remembered and one of the most beautiful places to live on God’s green earth. The people here are still warm, friendly, loving, and kindhearted. Everywhere I go, I have experienced the love and respect that I was nurtured with growing up as a child. It stays with you wherever you go. It’s called “Old School” upbringing: “ Train a child in the way he should go, and it will not depart from him.” It worked with my friends and relatives in Thomasville City schools as well. We worked hard to learn how to read, write, and communicate while being respectful to authority at the same time. Learning to obey the rules and respecting your elders will take you much farther in life than being rebellious and disrespectful. So, yes my precious children in Thomasville, you are Blessed to live in one of the most beautiful cities in America. Thank God you are here and I challenge each and everyone of you to work hard in school whether you are a “Bulldog” or a “Yellow Jacket” Make your parents, and grandmothers and grandparents, and aunties and uncles proud. Be of good courage, and make all of your dreams come true. God is with you, and you can do it!!
