Bulldogs win the Battle of Thomasville

The Thomasville Bulldogs came into the Jackets’ nest and beat their rival 62-45. 

The City of Thomasville was hyped about the matchup between the Bulldogs and the Yellow Jackets. Both fan bases were loud and engaged leading up to the game. 

The Bulldogs embraced the moment and set the tone on both sides of the ball. 

The Bulldogs’ best player Anthony Dent made back-to-back threes early on, and the Bulldogs set the tone on the defensive side of the ball, frustrating the Yellow Jackets’ offense and holding them to a scoreless quarter.  

After the Bulldogs took a 13-0 lead in the first quarter, it looked like it would be a long night for the Yellow Jackets.

Being down 13 points, Thomas County needed to put some points on the board and get themselves back in the game with their defense. 

Early in the second quarter, the Yellow Jackets finally scored after having a scoreless first quarter. Thomas County matched the intensity of the Bulldogs and managed to force some turnovers leading to easy points for the Jackets. 

The Bulldogs managed to overcome the turnovers, because their offense made some plays leading to points for the Bulldogs. 

Thomasville got a few easy points in transition and forced the Yellow Jackets to play a mistake-free quarter, which they couldn’t do. The Bulldogs went on a run giving the Bulldogs a 31-12 lead and ending the half with a monster slam for Anthony Dent. 

Coming into the third quarter, Thomas County knew they needed a fast start to get themselves back in the game. 

Both the Bulldogs and the Yellow Jackets came out with more intensity. The Bulldogs played with a lot of energy, and Thomas County Central matched their energy and got some easy points getting the crowd back into the game. 

Thomas County rallied themselves back in the game and managed to go on a run and cut the deficit to 7 points. 

The momentum was starting to swing in Thomas County’s favor. Thomas County had put themselves in a good position closing the third quarter, because the score was 43-33. 

In the fourth quarter, Thomasville and Thomas County had got themselves in a ball game. 

In the fourth quarter, the Bulldogs completely took over and played to their potential, and dominated the Yellow Jackets. The Bulldogs increased the lead to 15 points and never looked back. 

Thomasville knew they allowed Thomas County back in the game after a rough third quarter, and they redeemed themselves, because the Yellow Jackets didn’t have an answer. 

The Bulldogs finished the game with a 62-45 victory and improved their record to 2-5 for the season. Thomasville’s next game will be on the road against Bainbridge this Friday.  

With the loss, Thomas County is 1-2 in the season. Their next game will be on the road Tuesday against Adel.
