Outreach Angels Inc, born in Thomasville in 2021, has shifted its focus to a new interest group - and its personal, says the organization’s founder - Courtney Kelleigh. The program will serve South Georgia through South Florida networking services, programs, people - experts, to fill the gaps in women’s outreach as an auxiliary or “safety net.” Historically, Outreach Angels has been known for mental health outreach and events in areas surrounding Thomasville, Georgia. On June 7, 2022, the project sunlight property, set to be a small-scale transitional program, was closed and sold by Key South Realty to Thomasville resident Katrina Sun for $195,000 to be used as a residence. The sale was motivated by the founder’s pursuit of her medical training.
Shortly after Kelleigh moved, she reports being assaulted by a member of the Florida Board of Medicine. That event was a punctuation mark on her plans that incited a desire to shift gears. In the summer of 2022, she turned to numerous attorneys. However, she couldn’t find anyone to address what had happened to her.
“I knew then, I’d have to take it very seriously and it’s now a women’s rights issue,” Kelleigh stated.
Experience as an assault victim has created a backdrop for what will be called the “Women’s Advocacy Network” to support women helping others.
“It’s ironic because several years ago my brother and I came to Florida once for a special cause, we were running a marathon for my very sick father… I didn’t expect to be placed in a circumstance that would define me,” Kelleigh recalled. “I’m sure many other women this has happened to feel the same way.”
Thomasville residents can access new services immediately by calling the help line 24 hrs. a day at 850–242–1858. Follow social links attached or the organization’s website www.outreachangels.org . Email inquiries or general questions to info@outreachangels.org .
“I’m studying for professional exams, writing a book, healing, and building - using what happened to me on a daily basis through this matter as a program guideline for the Women’s Advocacy Network,” said Kelleigh.
