The Thomasville Chapter National Society Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) in collaboration with the Thomasville Garden Club, Inc. will hold a dedication ceremony for the Never Forget Garden on November 10, 2022 at 4:00 p.m. at the Thomasville Garden Center located at 1102 South Broad Street. The Never Forget Garden was planted to honor and remember veterans and their families and is a tribute to the 100th Anniversary of the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.

“We want to thank the Thomasville Garden Club and President Joanne Maxheimer for their partnership with DAR to create the Never Forget Garden at the Garden Center,” said Charlotte Brown, Thomasville Chapter DAR Regent. Veterans and the general public are invited to attend the Dedication. The TCCHS Army JROTC Color Guard will also participate in the ceremony. There will be a reception held afterward.

On Veterans Day, 1921, the remains of an unknown soldier who died in battle in France during World War I was brought over and laid to rest at Arlington National Cemetery. Never Forget Gardens are encouraged by the Society of the Honor Guard of the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. The garden is a visual way to represent America’s unwavering commitment to our sacred duty to recognize, remember and honor our veterans and their families now and for many years to come.

The Never Forget Garden carries the message that we remember the men and women who have served our country in times of war and armed conflict. It honors the Unknown Soldier and all those who have served our nation, in the past, present and future.

The National Society Daughters of the American Revolution was founded in 1890 to promote historic preservation, education, and patriotism.
