Taking away abortions is taking away healthcare

In 1973, the U.S. Supreme Court chose Roe v. Wade as a way to give women a legal right to abortion and help them with healthcare.

This year, the Supreme Court overturned the Roe ruling, restoring the power to many states to prohibit abortion. Thereby not only taking a right away from women, but also much of their healthcare.

The medical facts are as follows: 90% of abortions occur in the first trimester – for many reasons. Women can choose to end a pregnancy because of rape or incest, or because the fetus is not viable or the women’s life is in danger. Most abortions are not done for birth control. Only 1% of women need to undergo the procedure in the last trimester of a pregnancy. This is because the fetus has died, and the mother is distraught. It is a medical issue for the mother. Taking away abortions IS taking away women’s healthcare.

Finally, in a court a woman is the only person who would have a legal standing in an abortion. No man can be pregnant, therefore he would not have a legal standing in abortion. If men could be pregnant, we would not be having this discussion.
